Sheila Martinez-Lemke has over 20 years of experience in building and managing international patent portfolios for high technology clients. Her practice includes strategic patent procurement, general counseling on infringement and licensing issues, due diligence studies, and competitor analysis and targeting. She counsels a wide variety of clients from Fortune 500 companies and research universities to start-ups.

 

Ms. Martinez-Lemke has developed patent portfolios in a range of technologies including software and electronic device related fields. She has particular expertise in optical waveguides, quantum imaging, Fourier ptychography, photoacoustic tomography, speckle visibility spectroscopy, microfluidics, aerospace vehicles, high-strength carbon fiber composites, robotic systems, nanorobotics, semiconductor deposition processes (CVD, PVD and ALD), machine learning, micro-LEDs, CMOS image sensors, electrochromic devices, photovoltaic cell systems, and electrocatalysts for fuel cells.

 

Prior to joining Kwan & Olynick, Ms. Martinez-Lemke practiced at a large law firm as a senior patent associate and was a partner at a mid-size patent prosecution firm in the San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley.  Before becoming a patent attorney, Ms. Martinez-Lemke was as a senior technical specialist at Northrop Grumman, where she modeled and analyzed high-strength composite aerospace structures for projects ranging from supersonic commercial aircraft and reusable low-orbit satellite launch vehicles to the Tokyo Disney Seas “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” ride.
